As the ‘Café Weitblick’, the terrace is to become a lively and, if possible, barrier-free place of well-being.
We already have many ideas ‘burning under our nails’ to realise them. For example:
- Storytelling sessions to recall and pass on the many stories and memories of the Schwalbenthal together
- Games and reading programmes for different ages and in different languages
- Family cafés, where an additional programme gives the children an entertaining or exciting time and the parents the chance to have longer conversations with a good feeling.
- Games and get-togethers, also for adults, to meet old and new faces from the region
- Summer evenings with live music and fireflies
- Theatre performances and cabaret
- Argument forums or discussion events on topics announced in advance that move people
- Open anti-discrimination and reflection groups, each of which would like to deal with a key topic over several meetings
- Natural history programmes for children
We want cultural and social activities to take centre stage.
We are not service providers and do not want to enrich ourselves.
Due to climate change, global injustices and because we really like animals, the food we offer will be vegan and traded as co-operatively as possible. There will still be sandwiches, soup, coffee and tea, as well as really tasty cakes!
So that everyone can feel comfortable on site, we want the whole thing to be free of barter logic. This means that anyone who wants to support this place is welcome to contribute whatever is possible and feels good! And anyone who wants something to eat or drink should get it. Both should be independent of each other. For this to work, it is important that the café is not used with an attitude of ‘grab as much as you can’, but with appreciation and interest in preservation.
We also want to avoid other discriminatory structures and behaviour and invite people to speak up about what hurts. Because we all have experiences where this has hurt us or others, and yet it happens to us again and again that we hurt others, even without wanting to or even realising it.
